Grants for holidays are only given where there is a large element of respite care and only
to registered charities, not to individuals.
Grants may be given to the holiday home, or to the carers organization.
Grants are only given for holidays in the UK only, and only where the person cared for is
not going on this holiday, but is cared for elsewhere. Grants may be given for the person
being cared for to go away (instead of the carer).
Applicants for a grant should write, enclosing their last annual report and accounts and a
budget for the project. The Trustees tend to look more favourably on an appeal which is
simply and economically prepared: glossy, "prestige" and Mail sorted brochures do not
impress the trustees.
We will need a telephone contact number.
EXCLUDED CATEGORIES:
-
The Trustees do not look favourably on appeals for building work, nor for endowment funds.
-
We will not fund to replace the duties of Government, local authorities or the NHS. We do
not like to give grants that encourage the "contract culture", particularly where authorities are
not funding the contract adequately.
-
No grants are given to religious organisations set up for welfare, education etc. of whatever
religion, unless the service is open to and used by people from all denominations, and there
is no attempt to conduct any creedal propaganda or religious rituals
