The restoration (not "improvement") of churches of architectural importance (half a page
in Pevsner’s Buildings) and occasionally to other buildings of architectural importance.
The church should be open to visitors every day. There is no restriction on
denomination or religion.
Applicants should write in, telling us the architectural problems, ( a sight of the
architect’s report at the quinquennial inspection would be helpful, which we will return
promptly).
We do not fund adaptations, such as meeting rooms, toilets, disabled access etc.
We will expect the church to be open all day to visitors. If the church is locked, a
statement must be clearly visible about where the key can be obtained. The church
should still be used for worship.
Only one grant will be given to any church.
Cathedrals are not considered
